After breakfast featuring fresh local produce, we begin one of the most rewarding walking days of the journey.\n\nThe trail climbs gradually but consistently, following stone steps that link a series of hillside villages. Along the way, we share these ancient pathways with local residents going about their daily routines, farmers carrying grass for livestock, and villagers heading between homes and fields. The route winds upward through terraced farmland and open hillsides, offering expanding views across the Annapurna foothills.\n\nAs we gain elevation, shaded forest sections alternate with open ridgelines, revealing sweeping panoramas of layered valleys and distant peaks. After breakfast in the garden at Snowland Lodge, surrounded by sweeping mountain views, we begin the day with a gentle walk down into the historic heart of Ghandruk.\n\nHere, we visit the Gurung Museum, where traditional clothing, household tools, and cultural displays offer insight into the heritage and daily life of the Gurung people who have called this region home for generations.\n\nLeaving Ghandruk, the trail descends steadily toward the valley floor, following well-laid stone steps that wind through terraced farmland and clusters of stone houses. Along the way, everyday village scenes unfold around us, farmers tending crops, women collecting firewood, and children at play. Throughout the descent, Machhapuchhre remains a striking presence, its distinctive shape dominating the skyline.\n\nAt the base of the valley, we cross the Modi Khola via a suspension bridge, the river flowing far below. From here, the path climbs gradually toward the peaceful village of Landruk. Quieter and less visited than Ghandruk, Landruk offers a relaxed atmosphere and expansive views back across the Annapurna range.\n\nOn arrival, we check in to Landruk Lodge by Mountain Lodges of Nepal. After lifting off, you’ll soar high above the lush valleys and snow-capped ridges of the Annapurna region. The exhilarating flight offers jaw-dropping views before touching down at Annapurna Base Camp itself. Standing in the heart of a natural amphitheatre surrounded by towering peaks, including Annapurna I, Machhapuchhre (Fishtail Mountain), and Hiunchuli, you will be awed by this incredible scenery. You’ll have approximately 20 minutes here, allowing ample time to take in the remarkable 360-degree panoramas and the sheer scale of the landscape, while remaining comfortable at this altitude, before boarding the helicopter for your direct return to Pokhara.\n\nFrom Pokhara, we continue by plane back to Kathmandu.
