Nothing was too much, and they did it all with laughter and frivolit,y even when they had to lug our extremely heaving luggage in and out of the vans daily.\nThe accommodation far surpassed my expectations (especially the chateaus and monastery). I have nothing but praise for the trip and how is was curated. Have been telling all my friends and looking to join you on your Peru tour next year.",

We loved hearing about Hugo’s life in the Pyrenees. \nLoved the picnics we had on our walks - I understand that having a picnic on the hike is more work for Abbey but the food was delicious as you don’t need to sit down meals every day. I would definitely book another trip with your company. ",

After lunch, we avoid a steep 500-metre climb by taking a short transfer (approximately 15 minutes) to the village of Le Vernet, where we rejoin the trail. From here, we enjoy a gentle 2.8-mile (4.5-kilometre) descent into Saugues, a town rich in history and renowned for its traditional wood-turned clogs. The trail begins with a gentle climb across the Aubrac Plateau, a UNESCO World Heritage landscape of volcanic granite hills, beech forests and flower-strewn pastures dotted with traditional stone burons (shepherd huts). Crossing a charming stone bridge over a stream near Pascalet, we continue toward the highest point of the Camino at 1,324 metres. Here, wide-open horizons showcase the raw beauty of the French countryside. Gradually, the path descends into the medieval village of Aubrac, famous for its 12th-century Gothic church tower whose bells once guided pilgrims through storms. We pause here for lunch and a chance to explore the village’s historic lanes. After lunch, those continuing the full walk traverse through the hamlets of Belvezet and Del Sail, surrounded by green meadows and forested slopes. The trail then gently descends into Saint-Chély-d’Aubrac, a postcard-perfect village set beside the River Boralde, where time seems to stand still. The route from Espalion to Estaing follows one of the most scenic sections of the Lot Valley, winding through ancient hamlets, farmlands and riverside paths. We begin in Espalion, a charming town with its picturesque old bridge spanning the River Lot, and continue through peaceful countryside toward the village of Saint-Pierre, where we pause for an early picnic lunch beside its quaint stone church. Gentle to moderate terrain with forest paths, limestone plateaus and panoramic river valley views.\n\n**Flexible Walking Option Summary:**\nGuests may enjoy both walks or choose to skip the afternoon section. Private transfers are available for those who prefer to spend extra time exploring Saint-Cirq-Lapopie, one of France’s most beautiful villages.\n\n**Walk Itinerary:**\nAfter breakfast, we farewell Conques and transfer toward the Grotte du Pech Merle, pausing en route to explore the medieval town of Figeac, known for its charming stone architecture and vibrant local market. Upon arrival at Pech Merle, we embark on a short 1.2-mile (2-kilometre) guided walk through the extraordinary prehistoric cave system. Dating back over 29,000 years, these caves are among the few in France still open to the public, decorated with nearly 700 ancient paintings and engravings, including the famous Spotted Horses. This rare experience offers a moving glimpse into early human creativity and connection with nature. After our visit, we continue with a scenic 5.6-mile (9-kilometre) afternoon walk from Pech Merle to Saint-Cirq-Lapopie, following a moderately challenging route through wooded hills and along the River Lot. The final approach reveals one of the most breathtaking sights in France — Saint-Cirq-Lapopie, perched dramatically on a cliff overlooking the river, its honey-coloured stone houses and terracotta rooftops cascading down the hillside. Guests may explore the village’s narrow laneways, artisan shops and viewpoints before transferring approximately 45 minutes to the stunning Château de Mercuès, our home for the night. This magnificent 13th-century castle overlooks the vineyards of Cahors and once served as the residence of the Bishops of Cahors. Now an elegant five-star hotel, the château features lavish interiors, antique furnishings and expansive gardens. Before dinner, enjoy a sunset aperitif on the castle’s rooftop terrace, followed by a superb dining experience in the château’s acclaimed restaurant, where regional cuisine is paired with fine Cahors wines from the surrounding vineyards."

Its cobbled streets, circular market hall and panoramic river views perfectly capture the charm of rural southwestern France. After exploring Auvillar, we continue by private transfer (around 1 hour) to Larressingle, another stunning medieval village known as “the Little Carcassonne of the Gers.” From Larressingle, we begin our walk through the picturesque Gascony countryside. The trail winds past vineyards and stone farmhouses, crossing the ancient Pont d’Artigues bridge, the Chapel de Routgès, and a small chateau, all reminders of the Camino’s centuries-old history. Just the most amazing experience! Nothing was left to chance, and Abbey and Lolita were beyond amazing

Susan Koch • 5/22/2025

The tour was fantastic as it was extremely well organised; the two guides (Abbey and Hugo) were excellent due to their knowledge, attitude, helpfulness, sense of humour and friendliness; and the hiking routes were magnificent. I am planning to go on some of your other adventures due to enjoying the Camino trip so much.

Jane McIntosh • 5/20/2025

I had the best time. Abbey and Hugo were gems and fun to travel with. Nothing was too much, and they did it all with laughter and frivolit,y even when they had to lug our extremely heaving luggage in and out of the vans daily. The accommodation far surpassed my expectations (especially the chateaus and monastery). I have nothing but praise for the trip and how is was curated. Have been telling all my friends and looking to join you on your Peru tour next year.

Helen Weissenberger • 5/20/2025

A huge thank you to Abbey and Hugo for making our tour so memorable - it was a very special experience to do the walk with friends and such dedicated, hardworking and knowledgeable guides like Abbey and Hugo. We loved hearing about Hugo’s life in the Pyrenees. Loved the picnics we had on our walks - I understand that having a picnic on the hike is more work for Abbey but the food was delicious as you don’t need to sit down meals every day. I would definitely book another trip with your company.
