"reviewBody": "The guides were fun, caring, very knowledgeable, enthusiastic & looked after the entire group wonderfully well. They spent time with us all together as a group and individually so you really felt a connection. That's important to me as a big part of the experience. We were given guidance on what was happening next in a timely manner so no one mucked up and kept the rest of the group waiting. Everything ran smoothly I felt. The walks were well planned and executed with a good amount of rests. I loved the hot tea and biscuit breaks. Danny is a wild encyclopaedia of knowledge. Historical, botanical, geological and has many other quirky and interesting information to impart. He kept us all entertained. Thank you. 10 out of 10. ",

Danny (Jethro) our leader was ridiculously knowledgeable🤣 Mishka and Kierlan were very efficient and keen to learn. They assisted with injured clients and stayed back to ensure our safety. Would definitely recommend this company and tour. The group were a mix of ladies from different walks of life and yet we all managed to find something in common. 10 out of 10.",

Danny's knowledge driving to Stewart's Bay was outstanding, his sense of humour, his \"layman\" terms were so enjoyable. Billy was such a sweetheart, very patient with myself - and so accommodating to our needs, in all I cannot fault them. Every meal was delicious, even the lunches on the walk, loved the trail mix and selection of muesli bars, even the cup of tea on the track....so appreciated that! The boat trip, wow, just wow, loved those guys on the boats, felt very safe with them and you could see how much they loved their job, an absolute bucket-list of a trip, I can't believe I did it! 10 out of 10. "description": "**Suggested pre-night accommodation**: Grand Chancellor Hobart\n\n**Departure time**: 7.30am\n\n**Transfer times**: Morning: 2-hour transfer from Hobart to the start of the trail, with a break en route. Afternoon: 20-minute transfer from the end of the walk to accommodation.\n\n**Walking options:**\nMain walk: 15 km / 9.3 miles, 6–6.5 hours with breaks. Medium grade. Good level of fitness required.\nShorter walk: 8 km / 5 miles, 4 hours with breaks. Medium grade. Good level of fitness required.\n\n**Terrain**: This walk climbs gently to a lookout above high sea cliffs before following an elevated trail behind the cliff line. The track then descends 200 metres via well-formed rock steps and switchbacks before flattening out toward the tip of Cape Raoul. Expect firm gravel surfaces, short boardwalk sections and unfenced sheer cliffs near the cape. Out-and-back on the same trail.\n\n**Itinerary**: Meet the group at the Hotel Grand Chancellor Hobart at 7.30am, or alternatively you may join the walk at our Life’s an Adventure premises at Stewarts Bay Lodge in Port Arthur at 9.15am. We begin our journey travelling to the Tasman Peninsula and Tasman National Park, an area known for its rugged coastline, diverse habitats and more than one-third of Tasmania’s recorded plant species, including over 60 that are threatened.\n\nToday’s walk leads us through tall eucalypt forest, sheoak woodland and coastal heath before emerging onto the dramatic dolerite cliff tops of Cape Raoul. Along the way, enjoy remarkable views across Storm Bay to Bruny Island as well as distant vistas of Cape Pillar and Tasman Island. From the towering sea cliffs, look below for the resident colony of Australian fur seals, and if the swell is right, you may witness the powerful big-wave surf break at Shipstern Bluff.\n\nFor guests choosing the shorter option, you will walk with the group to our lunch stop, taking in the sweeping views from the Raoul Plateau. Enjoy additional free time to relax and appreciate the scenery while the rest of the group continues on to Cape Raoul before rejoining you on their return journey.\n\nAt the end of the walk, we transfer to our accommodation for the next two nights at Stewarts Bay Lodge, where you can settle in and unwind. Tonight, enjoy a wonderful two-course dinner at the nearby 1830 Restaurant, featuring local Tasmanian produce and regional wines, overlooking the historic Port Arthur site.\n\n**Accommodation**: Stewarts Bay Lodge"

Afternoon: 23-minute transfer from the end of the walk back to the accommodation.\n\n**Walking options**:\nMain walk: 19 km / 11.8 miles. Begins with a 2-hour ascent through rainforest, followed by a 1.5-hour descent, then undulating terrain. Good level of fitness required. Approx. 9 hours with breaks.\nShorter walk: 6 km / 3.7 miles. Moderate level of fitness required. Approx. 3–4 hours with breaks. Grade: Medium.\n\n**Terrain**: A narrow natural trail with exposed roots, rocks, logs and overhanging vegetation. The day begins with a steep climb and five small creek crossings, followed by a long descent and an undulating coastal forest trail. Expect unfenced sheer sea cliffs along sections of the route.\n\n**Itinerary**: After breakfast, we make our way to the stunning Waterfall Bay to begin what many consider the most impressive walk on the Tasman Peninsula. The Tasman Coastal Track is a challenging but unforgettable experience, consistently rated as a highlight by our guests.\n\nWe begin at Waterfall Bay, where an incredible 100-metre waterfall plunges straight into the sea. The trail climbs gently at first through tall stringybark forest before entering lush, moss-covered rainforest. For the next 45–60 minutes, we undertake the steep ascent to Tatnels Hill, the highest point of the day at 548 metres. Once at the top, the hardest work is behind us. From here, the track winds downhill before settling into a series of rolling undulations along the coastal escarpment.\n\nThroughout the day, the views are nothing short of spectacular. Towering dolerite cliffs rise dramatically from the ocean, offering breathtaking panoramas at every turn. The diverse habitats along this track also support a wide range of wildlife—echidnas, wombats, potoroos and pademelons are commonly sighted, while keen birdwatchers may spot the rare and endangered swift parrot. Fortescue Bay is also home to a colony of little penguins, which may occasionally be seen returning to their burrows at dusk.\n\nFor guests choosing the shorter walking option, you will begin with the group through the rainforest before returning for a short side trip to Waterfall Bluff Lookout. From here, enjoy a beautiful coastal walk north past Patterson’s Arch and Devils Kitchen to the spectacular Tasman Arch. After lunch, enjoy free time to visit the Port Arthur Historic Site (own expense) or relax back at the lodge.\n\nAfter the day’s walk, we return to Stewarts Bay Lodge to unwind. Tonight, enjoy a wonderful dinner at Gabriel’s Restaurant, served with Tasmanian wine and overlooking the peaceful waters of the bay.\n\n**Accommodation**: Stewarts Bay Lodge"

Afternoon: 1.5-hour transfer from the end of the walk back to Hobart.\n\n**Main walk grade**: 10 km / 6.2 miles. An undulating walk with many ups and downs and numerous steps. Good level of fitness required. Approx. 4.5 hours walking with breaks. Medium grade.\n**Easier option**: 6 km / 3.7 miles. A shorter version of the same walk. Good level of fitness required. Approx. 3 hours walking with breaks.\n\n**Terrain**: The track includes short, steep hill sections on a firm gravel surface with many well-constructed rock steps. Expect short sections of boardwalk and several unfenced sheer sea cliffs. This walk is out-and-back on the same trail.\n\n**Itinerary**: After a relaxed breakfast, choose between two incredible experiences—seeing Cape Pillar by helicopter or by wilderness cruise. We will also enjoy a walk to Cape Hauy today.\n\nFor guests choosing the helicopter experience, the day’s highlight is an unforgettable aerial view of Cape Pillar’s towering dolerite cliffs and remote Tasman Island with its famously exposed lighthouse. This breathtaking flight offers a unique perspective of the dramatic Three Capes coastline. After landing, enjoy a sit-down lunch at the picturesque Port Arthur Lavender Farm.\n\nAlternatively, guests can join a three-hour wilderness cruise around Cape Pillar. This exhilarating journey takes you beneath the Three Capes’ sheer ‘organ-pipe’ formations and sea stacks. Along the way, keep an eye out for albatross, seals, dolphins and migrating whales. Guests on the cruise option enjoy a takeaway lunch from the Lavender Farm.\n\n**Please note**: Rotor-Lift Aviation may cancel flights due to weather. If this occurs, all guests will undertake the wilderness cruise instead. We will advise guests prior to departure.\n\nFollowing your chosen activity, we begin the walk to Cape Hauy from Fortescue Bay. The trail winds through coastal forest rich with wildflowers before climbing a long series of steps toward the exposed sea cliffs. A lookout platform offers spectacular views of the famed off-shore sea stacks—Totem Pole, The Candlestick and The Lanterns. For those preferring a shorter option, the halfway lookout provides equally breathtaking vistas without tackling the full ascent.\n\nAfter completing the walk, we make our return journey to Hobart.\n\n**Arrival time**: We arrive back into Hobart at approximately 7.00 pm. Airport drop-offs are available at 7.30 pm for those flying out the same evening. If booking flights, please ensure your departure time is no earlier than 8.15 pm.\n\n**Important note**: This walk is not the Three Capes Track self-guided walk run by Tasmania Parks and Wildlife Service. For information on that walk, please contact 1300 827 727."

## Reviews

Lleeanne Lyle. • 10/17/2025

The guides were fun, caring, very knowledgeable, enthusiastic & looked after the entire group wonderfully well.

Annetta Paterson • 10/24/2025

Could not fault the trip and our guides were outstanding 10 out of 10.

Toni Velterop • 10/27/2025

Amazing experience from pickup to drop off. Caters for all guests of any age. Caring guides who always ensured everyone was coping. 10 out of 10.
